SWANIE SWEEPS CZECH SX IN PREPARATION FOR BERCY!

Date: 08 November 2004

Gareth Swanepoel celebrated his first victory aboard the Kawasaki Molson KXF250 when the he took a clean sweep in the 125cc class at the Volary SX in the Czech Republic.

Swanie won all three nights, annihilating the 125 field and then moving on to challenge for the overall in the Super final event. (The winner would take home a brand new Toyota). The nineteen-year-old had his work cut out for him against the more powerful 250cc machines and a large contingent of French and American riders. Plenty of bar banging ensued with the smaller machine having to work its way through the field and at the end of the three nights Swanie was glad to finish in third overall, obviously being the highest place 125 finisher.

Explained Swanepoel: "It was pretty tough racing against the stronger 250 guys. They had more advantage in the start which meant I had to fight my way through the pack. I had the second fastest lap time so my speed was really good. This has been really good preparation for Bercy next weekend where I hope to qualify for the final and race against the top Americans. The bike is really working well and the four-stroke will be a sure advantage at the start".
